Foods That Reduce Inflammation – All About Spinach

When I was young, Popeye the Sailor Man was still on basic cable. And it seemed like every episode, Popeye would get into a fight with a bully named Bluto the Terrible, cool name right? Reflecting his name, Bluto was indeed terrible because he always terrorized Popeye and harassed Popeye’s girlfriend Olive Oyl. For the most part, Popeye would win the fight after if he ate his secret stash of spinach. But why spinach? In this article, we’ll discuss spinach, the secrets of spinach, and why it’s one of the many foods that reduce inflammation.

Spinach Origins

It is believed that spinach originates from the edible wild plant called Spinacia Tetranda. Spinacia Tetranda is still gathered in multiple eastern country’s today. Known as a flowering plant of the Amaranthaceae family, spinach can be considered one of it’s popular members.

Early Persian writings indicate that spinach was present in civilization as far back as the Post-Antiquity era and earlier. It was also known to be popular in many other countries including ancient China.

Contrary to what their colleagues suggest. Some historians believe that spinach was abundant in ancient China before it’s abundancy in the Mediterranean. Likewise, spinach was largely cultivated in Persia far before ever being present in China.

What’s All the Hype about Mediterranean Food?

The country’s that surround the Mediterranean Sea are known for their healthy foods. Some of these country’s include.

– Spain

– France

– Italy

– Malta

– Turkey

– Greece

– Cyprus

– Egypt

– Israel

– Syria

– Armenia

The Mediterranean diet for example, which is extremely nutritious, is one of the healthiest diet plans to follow. But why is this?

The reason Mediterranean food gets a lot of hype is because Mediterranean meal plans consists of foods packed with nutrients, natural nitrates, and unsaturated fats. All of which are exceptionally beneficial, especially when combined.

Spinach is very common in the Mediterranean diet as well as many other leafy green vegetables, nuts, fruits, fish, and healthy oils.

One of the Many Foods That Reduce Inflammation is Spinach

Spinach reduces inflammation because it contains anti-inflammatory compounds such as multi-vitamins, omega 3 fatty acids and phytonutrients. All of whichfoods-that-reduce-inflammation-spinach-leaf drastically reduces inflammation.

Remember, Inflammation is necessary for basic immune functions of the body. Inflammation is needed to heal wounds, injury’s or infections. It battles foreign invaders and cleans damaged tissue. It activates when needed then deactivates when done. This is called acute Inflammation.

But sometimes inflammation gets out of control and attacks itself.. This usually happens when to much inflammatory foods have been consumed, as well as neglection of exercise,  stressful living, and lack of proper sleep. This is called chronic inflammation.

The Anti-Inflammatory Vitamins in Spinach

B vitamins inside spinach regulate inflammation. In light of this, B6 and B9 are all components that are also added to anti-inflammatory drugs. These medications are prescribed by doctors to treat inflammatory diseases.

So by eating spinach in the first place, vitamins B6 and B9 are all naturally absorbed and therefore anti-inflammation benefits are reaped.

E vitamin inside spinach regulates inflammation because of it’s antioxidant qualities. Antioxidants protect your cells from free radicals and reduce inflammation at the same time.

As a conjunction, vitamin E works extremely well with vitamin C present. The two compliment each others presence, thus reducing inflammation even more by amplifying each others effects. Vitamin C is present in spinach, making spinach a power house super food.

C vitamin. Talking about one of the best vitamins in the world. Vitamin C can do multiple wonders. Countering inflammation is but one of them. Mainly, vitamin C act’s as an electron doner.

The vitamin C found in spinach can not only prevent illness, but it can also reverse illness too. This works because vitamin C donates electrons to free radicals. foods-that-reduce-inflammation-spinach

But why donate electrons to the enemy? Because, by giving electrons to the free radicals, they receive all they can carry, this hinders them from stealing electrons from other sources.

So as a bonus, vitamin C reverses illness. It does this by repairing oxidative damage caused by free radicles. Free radicals can cause major inflammation issues, but Vitamin C not only prevents but it reverses.

A Vitamin. Are you kidding me? The A vitamin is present in spinach too? Yes it is. If you were to get your A vitamin from any source, spinach would be a good choice.

Adelle Davis, a 1960’s Nutritionist, explained that the inflammatory disease psoriasis and eczema are caused by a vitamin deficiency and a “faulty utilization of fat.”. She recommends, lecithin and the vitamins A, B, C, and E.

Other sources state that vitamin A can counter a multiple inflammatory diseases. This includes inflammation of the joints, organs, and skin.

It is suggested that Vitamin A deficiency may even cause inflammation.

K Vitamin. While discussing the multivitamin super-food spinach. Vitamin K is also a big contributor.

Not only does vitamin K allow the coagulation of blood which prevents excessive bleeding. But researches state that vitamins k1 which is found in leafy greens like spinach, and k2 which is usually synthesized by gut micro-flora, both have anti-inflammatory qualities.

While observing data from over 1000 participants in a vitamin K experiment. The case study showed that in association with Vitamin K1, a decrease in inflammation took place.

Spinach Fights for You

Spinach doesn’t just fight Inflammation, it fights other disorders too. Here’s a list of ailments that spinach works against.

– Psoriasis

– Eczemafoods-that-reduce-inflammation-spinach-drawing

– Diabetes

– Heart Disease

– Heart Attacks

– Stroke

– Hypertension

– Alzheimer’s

– Cancer

– Asthma

Why Does Popeye Get Strong After Eating Spinach?

Because spinach has steroids. I’m not kidding. There is a rare component to spinach which few plants posses. It’s called phytoecdysteroids. It’s a natural occurring steroid found only in certain plants.

The phytoecdysteroids in spinach can raise protein synthesis by 20%, therefore increasing human strength substantially.

So when Popeye opened up a can of spinach to beat up Bluto, he was literally opening up a can of steroids. He was “opening up a can of whoop ass.”

Foods That Can Reduce Inflammation – All About Onions

Onions are Foods That Can Reduce Inflammation bitmoji

I love onions. Some people can’t stand them. But if you like them or not. Onions can be considered one of the miracle foods that can reduce inflammation.Onions are Foods That Can Reduce Inflammation bitmoji

Inflammation is one of the body’s immune functions. We need inflammation to heal wounds at the molecular level and at the regular level. This is called acute Inflammation and it’s good.

Sometimes inflammation can get out of control when we eat to many inflammatory foods. This dilemma can actually work against the healing purpose and it can start to cause massive damage instead. This is called chronic inflammation and it’s considered very bad.

Foods with processed sugar and loads of saturated fat can activate the body’s inflammatory response and keep it active indefinitely. This is considered an overactive immune system. An overactive immune system or chronic inflammation, can lead to many inflammatory diseases like psoriasis, eczema, arthritis, and hundreds of other diseases and problems.

Onion Origins

Used by many ancient cultures. Onions have been used medicinally by the Romans, Greeks, Egyptians, Asians, and dozens of other cultures. From burying onions with their dead; and from eating, drinking and rubbing onions all over their skin when they were alive. Ancient cultures knew that onions were foods that can reduce inflammation.

Ancient understood benefits include.Egyptians use onions

– Antiseptic Qualities

– Diuretic Qualities

– Digestion Health

– Heart Health

– Joint Health

– Vision Qualities

– Anti-Inflammation Qualities

Onions are Foods that Can Reduce Inflammation

Experts say that red, purple or yellow onions are richer in nutrients than their white colored cousins. But don’t be prejudice. All onions work wonders for the body. But Yellow, purple and red onions just happen to work a little better.

There are plenty of natural foods that have anti-inflammatory qualities. This is due to the presence quercetin inside of them. Onions are one of them.

Onions have antioxidant phytonutrients that reduce inflammation in the body by using compounds like anthocyanin and quercetin to regulate levels of histamines, leukotrines and prostaglandins. All of which are associated with inflammation.

Considered a flavonoid antioxidant, quercetin keeps inflammation at bay by fighting free radical damage.

Other Quercetin Foods That Can Reduce Inflammation

– Blue Berries

– Kale

– Green Tea

– Beans

– Olive Oil

– Asparagus

– Capers

– Apples

Onions, Onions, Everywhere, and Not a Bite to Eat

Onions are present in many types of recipes. They can add an explosion of flavor or just a slightly needed alteration of taste. Want some zazz to your boring salad? Pop some onions in it. Tired of the same recipe? Sprinkle some diced onions in it.

Onions can benefit almost any recipe. By adding a few table spoons to the cooking process, it can change a well cooked meal’s taste level from “eh,” to “oh yeah” in a heart beat. Some recipes actually require onions in it because the taste drastically depends on it.

Fresh Onions vs. Cooked Onions

Fruits and vegetables are considered more nutrient rich in the raw state vs. the cooked state. This is also true with onions. Though benefits are still present after cooking onions, eating them raw as opposed to cooking them is ideal.

There are many recipes that contain fresh onions. A simple salad is one of them. Get your onion fix in regularly by eating the occasional salad.

*Note: For those with psoriasis or major inflammation issues. It is best not to add counter-productive ingredients to your salad. Such as night-shades, croutons, dairy, or commercial dressings.

Olive oil and a splash of apple cider vinegar is the best way to benefit from a salad. Scope my Don’t List for avoiding Inflammatory foods.

Modern Benefits from Onions

Yes ancient cultures had unique ways of utilizing onions. Some onion uses we may not fully understand yet. For example, Egyptians not only ate onions, they buried them with their dead. Dozens of archaeological digs display onions in the hands, between the feet, on the chest, and even over the eye sockets. We don’t practice this anymore. Many funeral attendees probably would scoff at the notion of putting onions on top of anybody dead or alive.

Another example is the Greeks. In Greece, during popular competitions. Athletes would utilize onions by spreading onion juice on their skin. They would drink the juice and eat them raw like apples.

Today, some athletes just drink Powerade before the big game. A controversial practice because Powerade is known to have more negative attributes than positive ones.

There are hundreds of benefits from onions that are presently known in today’s world. I will name a few.

Here is a list of modern benefits from onions.

Foods That Reduce Inflammation Naturally – All About Romaine Lettuce

Foods-That-Reduce-Inflammation-Naturally-all-about-romaine-lettuce-close-up

If I had to choose between romaine lettuce and iceberg lettuce. I would choose romaine lettuce. Not just because it’s one of the foods that reduce inflammation naturally but because it has several times more nutrients than iceberg lettuce.

Romaine Lettuce Originsfertility-god-Min

Romaine lettuce has several names. Here in America we call it Romaine lettuce because supposedly it reached western country’s by the way of Rome.
Romaine lettuce is also referred to as Cos Lettuce. This is because some historians trace Romaine lettuce back to the Greek Island of Kos.

In ancient Egypt, Romaine lettuce was considered an aphrodisiac. According to Sarah Griffiths, who wrote The Land Where Lettuce was a Sex Symbol. She mentions that egyptologist Salima Ikram says that Romaine lettuce is “Min’s favorite food.” Min is the God of Fertility. And the reason he can perform so well is because of Romaine lettuce.

One of the Many Foods That Reduce Inflammation Naturally is Romaine Lettuce

Romaine lettuce reduces inflammation naturally because it contains anti-inflammatory compounds such as multi-vitamins, minerals, and omega 3 fatty acids.

Remember, Inflammation is important for basic immune functions. Inflammation is required to heal wounds, injury’s and infections. It works against foreign invaders and cleans damages in the body. It activates when
needed then deactivates when finished. This is called acute Inflammation.

But sometimes inflammation attacks itself. This usually happens when an abundant amount of inflammatory foods have been consumed,
as well as not exercising, stress, and lack of deep sleep. This is called chronic inflammation.

The Anti-Inflammatory Vitamins in Romaine Lettuce

B vitamins inside Romaine lettuce regulate inflammation. In
light of this, B6 and B9 are all ingredients that are also placed into
anti-inflammatory medications. These medications are prescribed by physicians to control inflammatory conditions.

So by consuming Romaine lettuce on a regular basis, vitamins B6 and B9 are all
naturally absorbed and therefore anti-inflammation perks are received.

Vitamins B1, B5, and B7 are also present in Romaine lettuce.

C vitamin. Discussing one of the best vitamins on the planet. Vitamin C can do multiple miracles. Fighting inflammationFoods-That-Reduce-Inflammation-Naturally-all-about-romaine-lettuce
is one of them. First and foremost, vitamin C act’s as an electron doner.

The vitamin C found in Romaine lettuce can not only ward away illness, but it can also overturn present illness too. This works because vitamin C donates electrons to free radicals.

But why give electrons to the culprit? Because, by giving electrons
to the free radicals, they receive all they can carry, this hinders them
from taking electrons from other places.

So as a premium, vitamin C reverses sickness. It does this by fixing
oxidative damage caused by free radicals. Free radicals can cause massive
inflammation issues, but Vitamin C not only wards but it counters illness too.

A Vitamin. The A-Vitamin is exists in Romaine lettuce too. Romaine lettuce is a good leafy green vegetable to get your vitamin A from because most places will more than likely carry romaine lettuce. It is one of those vegetables that are always in stock.
The 1960’s Nutritionist Adelle Davis, explained that the inflammatory
diseases like psoriasis and eczema are caused by vitamin deficiencies and a
“faulty utilization of fat.” She proposes consuming lecithin and the vitamins
A, B, C, and E.

Multiple sources mention that vitamin A can reverse many
inflammatory illnesses. This includes inflammation of the organs, joints,
and skin.

It is implied that a Vitamin A deficiency may even cause inflammation.

K Vitamin. Talking about the multivitamin leafy green vegetable called Romaine lettuce. Did you know that vitamin K is also existent in Romaine lettuce and is considered a big contributor too.

Not only does vitamin K allow the coagulation of blood which prevents
extreme bleeding. But scholars stress that vitamins k1 which is
found in leafy greens like spinach and Romaine lettuce, and k2 which is usually synthesized
by gut micro-flora, both have anti-inflammatory benefits.

While studying data from over 1000 individuals in a vitamin K science
experiment. The study concluded that in association with Vitamin K1, a decline in inflammation was evident.

Romaine lettuce doesn’t just fight Inflammation, it fights other diseases too. Here’s a chart of disorders that Romaine lettuce counter attacks.

– Psoriasis

– Eczema

– Stroke

– Hypertension

– Caner

– Stroke

– Obesity

– Diabetes

– Impotence

How do you Romaine?

Sure you can just go into a grocery store and purchase some Romaine lettuce for a couple of bucks but did you know that when you go out to eat. Most establishments actually carry romaine lettuce but won’t serve it to you unless you request it.

I know this because when I used to work at the Olive Garden, they would only serve Iceberg lettuce. They only serve romaine lettuce upon request because Iceberg lettuce is cheaper than Romaine lettuce.
All you have to do is request it. This trick works in other restaurant chains as well.
